Fitment Information
- BMW M3 G80 Sedan S58 3.0L Twin Turbo (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025), RWD and xDrive
- BMW M3 G81 Touring S58 3.0L Twin Turbo (2023, 2024, 2025), RWD and xDrive
- BMW M4 G82 Coupe S58 3.0L Twin Turbo (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025), RWD and xDrive
- BMW M4 G83 Convertible S58 3.0L Twin Turbo (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025), RWD and xDrive
- Note: Does not fit the BMW M2 G87, which uses different exhaust routing and requires a separate IRL system
Fitment Note: This is an axleback exhaust, replacing the rear muffler section only. It does not replace the mid pipe or downpipes. Installation requires cutting the factory exhaust pipe at the second dimple on the OEM rear section, after which the IRL axleback clamps on without any welding. The extended exhaust brace for added clearance is included in the kit. The IRL V2 Valve Controller is strongly recommended alongside this axleback since the factory G8X exhaust valves only open to approximately 25-30% of their capacity. The valve controller, sold separately, allows you to open the valves to 100% on demand.
Specs and Features
- Stainless steel construction throughout
- Electronic exhaust valves for factory-like operation, integrates with the existing G8X valve system
- Factory G8X exhaust valves only open approximately 25-30%, this system allows full 100% valve opening when paired with the IRL V2 Valve Controller
- Fully clamp-on installation, no cutting or welding required
- 100% reversible, stock exhaust can be reinstalled at any time
- Extended exhaust brace included for added clearance
- IRL tips included
- IRL V2 Valve Controller not included, sold separately, strongly recommended for full valve control
- Drone note: reducing muffler size from the OEM configuration increases the potential for drone, which is subjective and varies by driver. Sound characteristics will change compared to stock
Pairs well with:
- IRL V2 Exhaust Valve Controller for BMW G80 M3 / G82 M4 / G87 M2 IRL specifically recommends the V2 Valve Controller alongside this axleback. The factory G8X valves only open to around 25-30%, and the controller gives you the option to push them to 100% on demand rather than being limited by the factory calibration.
A few things worth knowing before you order. Installation requires cutting the factory exhaust pipe at the second dimple on the OEM rear section. After that cut, the IRL axleback clamps on with no welding. If you plan to go back to stock at any point, keep the factory muffler section after removal so you have it to reinstall from the cut point. The factory G8X valves only open to around 25-30%, so IRL strongly recommends pairing this with the V2 Valve Controller. Without it the system still sounds better than stock, but you're leaving most of the upgrade on the table. The controller is sold separately. The extended clearance brace is included in the kit, so if you already bought the brace separately, check with us before ordering since you may already have one.
